Bond, James Bond. Photoshoot.

BondBondBond

James Bond-inspired photoshoot, what else do we need while quarantining? I tried it, and know you should! Because there’s not any certain make-up look that you should do, while having this photoshoot, I still would recommend you to make an accent with red lips or smokey eye. Choose one of these, not both. Seriously, not both. But to relax in front of the camera let’s listen to some music. As always I’ve created a playlist on Spotify for you, so you can get WILD while you living your high fashion model fantasy 😉 : click here! But if you don’t have Spotify, here’s a list of top 10 songs on this playlist.

  1. Tomorrow Never Dies – full length version – Sheryl Crow
  2. You Know My Name – Chris Cornell
  3. Another Way to Die – Jack White, Alicia Keys
  4. James Bond Theme (From Dr. No) – John Barry Orchestra
  5. Live And Let Die – Wings
  6. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – John Barry, Michael McDonald
  7. Nobody Does It Better – Carly Simon
  8. The Name’s Bond… James Bond – David Arnold
  9. No Time to Die – Billie Eillish
  10. Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang – Shirley Bassey

How to be like Bond?

As you can tell, the whole trick is lightning. For that, you going to need a simple flashlight or someone else’s phone with flash on and something cylindrical. For example, I used toilet paper, you can definitely find it in your house (are “toilet paper and quarantine” jokes are still funny?). There are two ways how you can take these pictures: 1 – you’re asking a friend to take photos for you; 2 – there’s you, your camera, and toilet paper with a flashlight. You decide what’s more comfortable for you, for me it’s was easier to ask my mom to take it!

Here’s how we did it:

’60s ispiration look!

60's make-up3021EFF7-F5DB-4105-920D-0DE7CBEF5EE6'60s

Good evening, my fellow make-up lovers! Today’s look is going to be dedicated to my favorite era – the ’60s! Good music and fashion, what can be more fun!

Women’s fashion in ’60s can go down on HERstory (yes, that’s a pun, you’re welcome) with the brightest and psychedelic colors and I LOVE IT! But on today’s look, we will tone it down a little, and focus on the other side of that spectrum.

Step 1: The ‘60s inspiration

Breakfast at Tiffany’s, what can be more iconic? This movie is the definition of the ’60s. So that is exactly what’s going to inspire us today, with of course some good music. Here’s the Spotify playlist that I’ve created to get you in a mood: click here! or if you don’t have Spotify, here’s a list of top 10:

  1. Respect – Aretha Franklin
  2. Knock on Wood – Eddie Floyd
  3. Comin’ Home Baby – Mel Torme
  4. Stand By Me – Ben E. King
  5. My Favorite Things – John Coltrane
  6. Both Sides Now – Judy Collins
  7. Listen Here – Eddie Harris
  8. Cool Jerk – The Capitols
  9. Once I Was – Tim Buckley
  10. 1969 – The Stooges

So, now when we know what we’re going to listen/watch, let’s begin!

Step 2: Let’s start!

At first we’re going to need:

{"source_sid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590669702885","subsource":"done_button","uid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590669702282","source":"other","origin":"gallery"}

  1. Eye liner
  2. White eyeshadow
  3. Black eyeshadow
  4. Brow pencil
  5. Mascara
  6. Your normal foundation
  7. Corrector

First, we’re doing the basics of our face! So, please, apply your foundation, corrector/concealer the way you usually do. Then work on your brows. Take your time, honey  (we all know this part is the hardest).
And now let’s work on our eyes, cause that’s exactly how we’re going to time travel.

{"subsource":"done_button","uid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590677589524","source":"other","origin":"unknown","source_sid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590677589526"}

  1. Apply white eyeshadow all over your eyelid.
  2. Create a line with your eyeliner right below your brow bone, and go over that line with some black eyeshadow to create a very expressive shadow. Try to do this just like in the picture.
  3. With the same eyeliner draw yourself a cat wing liner with a dolly lashes below and finish it with your favorite mascara.

To finish out the transformation, I clipped some of my hair in a low ponytail with volume underneath it, grabbed wine glass (with water in it, drink responsibly, kids)  and edit my pictures with retro effect to create a vision like Im at a ’60s party!

Don’t forget to tag me on your pictures and share it on your Instagram!

Halloween make-up

halloweenлавиылавтиылпиыл

Okay, let’s start with my personal favorite holiday – HALLOWEEN! Ooh, spooky!

Halloween make-up is something that we all know and love. Some of us are looking forward to this special day, so we can transform into someone or something spooky, mysterious, or even glamourous with a sprinkle of creepiness on the top.

Glamourous with creepiness is exactly what we going to do today, so buckle up my friends and let’s start!

Step 1: Halloween inspiration

When it comes to making any kind of form of art, you always need inspiration. Sometimes it comes naturally, but sometimes you need to search for inspiration or even motivation in order to come out with a look. In our case, Halloween and its spirit are enough inspirations for me, but if you struggle with this one let me show you what inspired me to come up with this look.
First of all, let’s get ourselves into a mood with some good music to play in the background. If you have a Spotify here’s a playlist that I made for you: click here! , but if you don’t have it, here’s a list of my personal favorites:

  1. The whole discography of Hollywood Vampires
  2. Ghoustbusters – Ray Parker Jr.
  3. Disturbia – Rihanna
  4. Thriller – Michal Jackson (duh)
  5. Superstition – Steve Wonder
  6. Somebody’s watching me – Rockwell
  7. Zombie – The Cranberries
  8. Spiredwebs – No doubt
  9. Snakes – Bastille
  10. Blood in the cut – K.Flay

So now, when we got this out of the way, let’s think about the actual make-up. What first thing come’s to your mind when you hear the word “Halloween”? What’s right, PUMPKIN!

halloween pumpkin

So let’s combine this two together: pumpkin + glamourous make-up.

Step 2:  Let’s just bloody do it!

You’ll be needing:

{"subsource":"done_button","uid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590671751690","source":"other","origin":"gallery","source_sid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590671752279"}

  1. Yellow lipstick
  2. Red lipstick
  3. Cotton pads
  4. White glue
  5. Dark eyeshadows
  6. Color corrector
  7. Your normal foundation
  8. Hot Pink eyeshadow
  9. Mascara
  10. Brow pencil
  11. Eyeliner

For the pumpkin part: 1-5; for the glaumourous part: 6-11.

To create cuts I used cotton pads mixed with simple white glue. PLEASE BE CAREFUL using it around your eye area! Darken it up with some black eyeshadows and there you have it!

The reason why I use lipsticks to create the looks, it’s because a lot of people actually allergic to face paint, so let’s not risk it!

For the glaumourous part:

{"subsource":"done_button","uid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590673795267","source":"share_action_sheet","origin":"gallery","source_sid":"122EDDE9-624F-4CE1-8BE5-D49D0F50C686_1590673795363"}

  1. Start off by putting a little amount of Hot Pink eyeshadow in the corner of your eye.
  2. Put much more in out of corner of your eye AND BLEND HONEY!
  3. Top it off with your signature eyeliner and mascara!

The pumpkin part is waaay to easy:

IMG_E4120 (2)

Sweetheart, just draw a pumpkin on your lovely face and darken up the edges, right where we put our fake scars. To finish up the look (for a photo), and not get messy, photoshop some blood, and there you have it! But if you would like to go out with this face on (lmao) use a sponge with fake blood or just red paint!

Butterfly make-up fantasy!

butterflybutterfly

It’s only 2 days left till summer! So how can we celebrate it? That’s right: COLORFUL MAKE-UP or how I’m calling it BUTTERFLY MAKE-UP! It’s so easy to do! You can wear this make-up at festivals, your favorite artists show or just at home, just like I did (cause I’m socially distancing, and you should too). So let’s dive in.

Step 1: Butterfly inspiration

You know the drill. Before we start doing our make-up, we like getting in the mood of the theme that we’re turning ourselves in. So here’s a Spotify playlist that I’ve created for you to listen, while you prepare your wings to fly: click here! But if you don’t have Spotify, here’s a list of top 10 songs from this playlist:

  1. Butterfly Kisses – Bob Carlisle
  2. Love You From a Distance (feat. Ro James) – Bridget Kelly, Ro James
  3. Flexin (Forever) [feat. Dray] – TXS, Dray
  4. For Free? – Interlude – Kendrick Lamar
  5. Happiness is a butterfly – Lana Del Rey
  6. Don’t Wanna Be Right – Amina Buddafly
  7. It Won’t Be Like This For Long – Darius Rucker
  8. In My Daughter’s Eyes – Martina McBride
  9. You’re Gonna Miss This – Trace Adkins
  10. Isn’t She Lovely – Stevie Wonder

Step 2: Spread your wings!

You will need:

IMG_4337

  1. Blue lipstick
  2. Yellow lipstick
  3. Pink lipstick
  4. Brow pencil
  5. Eye liner
  6. Mascara
  7. Corrector
  8. Your normal foundation

Now let’s tranform into a butterfly:

photo5947112422043136318

  1. Put blue lipstick at the corner of your eye all the way to your eyelid. I like putting lipstick as a shadow with my fingers.
  2. Then put on top of the blue color that’s on your lid the yellow lipstick to create the green color (wow, magic) and move with yellow all the way to your brow bone and cover it all with this one color.
  3. After that, put pink lipstick right below your yellow one in the shape of a butterfly wing, just like in a picture.

To finish it off, put your signature eyeliner on with some mascara and rock it baby!

I wish you a great summer, cause it’s going to be the hardest of them all. Please be careful at times like this and stay positive (but not positive with corona) and healthy.

As always, don’t forget to tag me on your pictures and share it on your Instagram.

Hello and welcome!

Well, hello beautiful people of the internet!

Before we start, let me introduce myself! My name’s Yana Markelevich, raised and born in a small town of Belarus, Grodno. You probably wonder, why does the name of the website is Jane Markiel but my real name is Yana? The answer is simple – that’s the name (the nickname if you will) that I prefer to be called 😊 So on this page I’m gonna referred to myself as Jane. Say “Hello, Jane!”, everyone!

I’m quite a creative soul that was never able to focus on one thing. After 18 years, I’ve realized there was no need to pick just one thing that you like, and so I decided to create „MARKIEL’s tricks”, a place where my passion for makeup and photography can meet, and the results will be out for the whole world to see!

I’ve been thinking about creating this kinda web side aka blog, for a while now. But the idea of making a website BY MYSELF was crazy to me. But thankfully learning how to create and then eventually creating a website, is a part of my homework in order to pass my „ New Media Technology ”class!

Expect from this page a lot of creative suggestions for your make up looks + interesting ideas for your HOMEMADE photoshoots (especially helpful while we’re quarantining and having so much free time on our hands).

On this website/blog I’ll constantly share with you my experience with the whole „transformation” process: how I created the looks, what kinda materials I’ve been using, and what inspired me to create this looks (pictures, movies, and songs). If you interested in seeing more stuff from me, go ahead and follow me on Instagram: jane_markiel

So I guess that’s it from me for now! You’ve got your chance to know me, now let me know you! Share with me your favorite pass-time activities while quarantining and write down below what would you like me to try on and break it down for you! See you in another post!

hello and welcome

 – xoxo Jane
